PS5 Fearless Contract does not support gyroscope targeting to take care of Xbox players
The console version of "Fearless Contract" does not support gyro aiming, Riot Games explains why
"Fearless Contract" is about to land on the host platform, but the host version will not support the gyro aiming function. Why is this?
"The console version doesn't support gyroscopes," Coleman Palm, head of product management, said in response to a query from netizens. "No, although the technology is cool, I would love to try more."
Palm pointed out that the decision was made to put Xbox players in the level playing field with PS5 players. He explained: "The Xbox controller does not natively support gyroscopes, and if we promote gyroscopes as a'way of playing 'on the console, then we will prefer the PS5, which is not what we want to do."
In response to suggestions that gyroscope targeting is a "blind spot" for some developers, as it is the closest point on the handle to the mouse, Palm said it was not an oversight but a deliberate decision.
"We're not opposed to full support for gyroscope control," says Palm. "We just want to focus our innovation on a more standard control paradigm to support players on both platforms." He also reveals that there are some people inside who are very interested in gyroscopes.
Riot announced at the Summer Games Festival that Fearless Contract will be available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year.
